The Odyssey in IMAX: stay near Odysseum

Since July, Montpellier has hosted a rare event: Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey in IMAX 70 mm film at Pathé Odysseum. It is, for now, the only cinema in France equipped for this format — the one the film was shot on. The local press called it a phenomenon: screenings extended through the summer, often into autumn.

Cinema address: 235 rue Georges Méliès, Allée Ulysse, next to the Odysseum centre. Tickets: pathe.fr. Another film date in town: Cinemed in October, at the Corum.

Twenty-five minutes by tram to Place de France

From the apartment, tram line 4 towards Place de l’Europe (two stops, not towards the Corum) then line 1 (towards Gare Sud de France) to Place de France. Pathé is a short walk, Allée Ulysse. Close enough to come back after a nearly three-hour screening, without a hotel on the Millénaire side.

The address: La Perle des Aubes, 53 boulevard Charles Warnery, Les Aubes.

• A 3-bedroom flat for 6 guests, 2 bathrooms.

• Parking in the residence, with a badge — useful if you mix an IMAX screening with a day in town.

• Tram line 4, Les Aubes stop, at the foot of the building, towards Place de l’Europe then L1 to Place de France.

How to get to Pathé Odysseum

By tram (the easiest option) — L4 from Les Aubes towards Place de l’Europe, then L1 to Place de France. Allow 20–25 minutes. The IMAX screen is more than 20 metres wide: arrive a little early.

By car — Odysseum car parks are large, easier than the Corum. After a late screening, the tram is more comfortable.

Projecteur allumé, faisceau dans la fumée

70 mm film screenings sell out faster than digital Laser. Watch pathe.fr: the cinema has already reopened ticket sales more than once. The film runs nearly three hours: plan the tram back.
